WBUUC members Jane Bacon and Sharon Gooch will facilitate a workshop series based on the book Witnessing Whiteness: The Need to Talk about Race and How to Do Itby Shelly Tochluk.

The goals of the series are to:

  • Build a community with a shared understanding of privilege, whiteness, and racism.
  • Increase [WBUUC’s] ability to support and implement diversity and racial justice initiatives.
  • Develop leadership capacity around issues of diversity and race

Ten sessions will be held on the following Sundays, 12:30-2:30:

Oct. 27, Nov. 3 & 17, Dec. 1 & 15, Jan. 5 & 26, Feb. 2 & 16; and Mar. 1

 

My Grandmother’s Hands

WBUUC members Kelsey Carnigan and Heather McLean will join Rev. Victoria Safford in facilitating a year-long discussion of Resmaa Menachem’s book My Grandmot

her’s Hands, on racialized trauma across generations, affecting “white bodies, black bodies and blue bodies.”

The group will meet on the 1stand 3rdSundays, 12:30-2:30, beginning October 20, through May 17.
