In Kind Giving

SPECIAL HOLIDAY COLLECTIONS

We are partnering this year with strong community neighbors to shape our gratitude in this season into generous and tangible gifts. Here are several ways you and your household can take part:

NEXT SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26

Join in the annual gift program for children of low income students at Century College.
The student parents will complete a brief form describing a holiday gift their child would like and then WBUUC members, as well as faculty and staff at Century, will match up with the forms and purchase the gifts. This program makes a big difference for low income students who often struggle to stretch already tight budgets to include gifts for their children. If you would like to participate, please visit the table in the Social Hall between services next Sunday, Nov. 26. You can choose a description of a gift you would enjoy purchasing for a child, and bring the wrapped and labeled gift to church the following week, December 3rd.

NOW THROUGH NEXT SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 26

It’s Turning Cold and the Closet Is Empty—Donate Warm Clothes for People Inc.
Recently, when the WBUUC volunteer group served lunch at People Inc.’s Project Recovery, they noticed their free clothes closet was absolutely bare. The people they serve live under bridges. Many suffer from mental illnesses and chemical dependency. Too few have access to mobility or other resources. The group asks the congregation to respond to this need. The director of the program suggests new or gently used jeans, boots/sturdy shoes, long-sleeved shirts, and jackets for both men and women. The need is urgent. Place donations in the cart in the Social Hall by Nov. 26. Thank you!

HOLIDAY BAKING COLLECTION

White Bear Lake Food Shelf is hoping to make the holidays a little brighter for our neighbors by providing Baking Bags in the month of December. Our church can help by providing items for the baking bags: flour 5#, sugar 5#, oil, baking powder, powdered sugar, brown sugar, oil, cinnamon, or nutmeg. We are asking for donations for one or any of the listed items. Please place them in the container in the Social Hall labeled White Bear Lake Food Shelf Baking Bags.

NOW THROUGH CHRISTMAS EVE, DECEMBER 24

Let’s Keep the Children Warm!
Please bring new hats, gloves, mittens and scarves for children!  We’ll collect these in the Atrium through the holiday season, and present them to the Mitten Tree at our Christmas Eve Services.
