Reposted from TedxTalks:

The Reverend Victoria Safford has been minister of White Bear Unitarian Universalist Church since 1999, following a 10-year ministry at Northampton, Mass., and four years as a community organizer with the American Friends Service Committee. A native of New York state, she is a graduate of Vassar College and Yale Divinity School. She is the author of “Walking Toward Morning” and “With and Without Candlelight,” both from Skinner House Books, and her essays have been anthologized in many collections, including The Impossible Will Take a Little While, from Basic Books. She lives in Mahtomedi.

Victoria will discuss circles of community and how these might be cast more broadly, deliberately and creatively to enhance the common good, bringing the relevance of old principles — community, commonwealth — to our shared vision of a 21st century Mahtomedi.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
