70th Anniversary Committee
Meets once on month on Sunday at 12:30pm

Art Gallery Committee
Meets first Monday of the month at 6 pm

The Art Gallery Committee brightens up the gallery walls with art throughout the year. We secure a broad range of artists to exhibit throughout the year. Solo artists and group shows are sought out.

Auction Committee
Meeting times vary

The Auction Committee organizes our biggest FUNdraiser which happens in late fall with dinner, music, dancing, live auction, and bazaar.

Belonging & Community Committee (B&C)
Meets Monthly
Contact: Rev. Jack Gaede
B&C fosters belonging in our church by managing projects on membership, hospitality, and integration. They help oversee teams like Welcome Teams, Welcome Wednesday Dinners, Cookie Bakers, and Membership Classes. They offer 12-minute Intro & Tours on select Sundays and are actively supporting new member integration, offering New Member Theme Circles and personalized phone calls to new members.

Bookstall
No scheduled meetings
Contact: Ann Galloway-Egge
Help keep the Bookstall open after church services for about 20 minutes. Choose a slot after the 9 or 11 o’clock service once a month. No meetings! Easy, flexible and low key commitment.

Building Advisory Committee
Meets 3rd Thursday at 2pm each month

The Building Advisory Committee focuses on good stewardship of the church’s physical assets. We advise church administration and leadership on all aspects of the building systems renewal, repair and maintenance. In addition our members provide volunteer time to keep the building working properly and in good repair.

Earth Ministry
Meets monthly
Contacts: Dana Boyle and Joanna Eckles
We look for opportunities to live out the religious and spiritual aspects of the UU approach to respecting our role within the interdependent web of all existence. Examples include helping to plan Earth Day activities, keeping the phenology board up to date, and leading Notice. Cherish. Protect. nature walks around the church property.

Endowment Committee
Meets Quarterly, as needed

The Endowment Committee is responsible for ensuring the church’s long-term financial stability and its lasting presence in the community. Its duties include planning endowment drives, managing planned giving programs, and overseeing the Endowment Fund in compliance with legal and church policies.

Family Ministry Team
Meets monthly

Our Family Ministry team works together to develop and support programs that help families of all ages, shapes and sizes find deep connection and support and WBUUC.

Financial Development Committee (FDC)
Meets third Thursday, every 2 months on Zoom

The Financial Development Committee (FDC) supports our ministers and fundraising event leaders to make the fund raising events at WBUUC successful. If you desire that our church be financially secure, this is a great committee to join to support that effort.

Financial Oversight Committee (FOC)
Meets the last Wednesday evening of the month

The Financial Oversight Committee (FOC) reviews Church financial management including all Church accounts, investments, and insurance. It makes recommendations to the Board and assists the Treasurer as needed.

Habitat for Humanity
Meets late summer
Contact: Jeff Ranta
Every summer WBUUC members and friends join two other White Bear Lake Churches for three to five days in late summer to build or renovate a home in the Metro Area. Volunteers must be 18 (16-17 year olds require an adult supervisor). Volunteers can work a single or multiple days. No building experience is necessary.

Land Stewardship Committee (LSC)
Meets monthly, workdays every 2nd & 4th Tuesday, 9am to noon, from May through October

Work with others to protect, restore and enhance the natural environment of the church grounds. LSC holds all-ages cleanup days on a Saturday in May & September. Everyone welcome!

Memorial Reception Team
No scheduled meetings
Contacts: Susan Warweg and Michele Madigan
Help with set-up and clean-up for memorial receptions. It is such an act of love to take care of the receptions for our families who are experiencing grief and loss. Signing up will place you on an “on-call” list that our Reception Team leaders will utilize on an as-needed basis.

Music on Maple
Meets 2-3 times annually, early Spring to choose the lineup for the following year.

Music on Maple, WBUUC’s concert series, arranges for and manages a season of performances during the WBUUC church year.

Refugee Immigrant Action Committee (RIAC) and Pink Haven Committee
Meets monthly, 2nd Thursday
Contact: Mena Hautau
The Refugee Immigrant Action Committee (RIAC) and Pink Haven Committee provides aid and assistance to recent immigrants and refugees from other countries and to transgender individuals moving to MN for safe haven.

Nominations and Leadership Development Committee (NLD)
Meets monthly, typically later afternoon or evening on a weekday

The NLD Committee oversees and implements leadership development activities. Lay leadership is essential to keeping WBUUC strong and vibrant.

Pastoral Care Ministry
Meets as needed

Within Pastoral Care at WBUUC, we have four different teams focused on different aspects of the care journey: Card Ministry Team, Support Network, Outreach Team and Companion Team. if you are willing to contribute to the pastoral care ministry of the church, please contact Rev. Jack. He can help find an opportunity that will fit your skills and interests.

Sandwich Squad
Meets Mondays, 1pm

Every week we meet to make sandwiches for Century College Students who qualify for special services through the college Resource Center.

Social Action Committee (SAC)
Meets second Tuesday of each month
Contacts: Jane Bacon and Alan Mitchell
SAC promotes, facilitates, and engages in social justice action and witness in accordance with Unitarian Universalist principles and with the mission statement of the church, calling for “service to the broader community and the world.” The SAC focuses on Homelessness & Affordable Housing, Food Insecurity, Environment, Human Rights, and Education. The SAC identifies nonprofit organizations and groups to be the recipient of special Sunday collections, which the church gives away twenty or more times per year.

Spiritual Growth Volunteers
No scheduled meetings, Sundays, Wednesdays and other opportunities available

Guide our children and teens on their spiritual journey. Learn as you serve. Training for facilitators/assistants provided. Requires active involvement at WBUUC for 6 months & signed Ethics/Screening Forms.

Sunday Morning Welcome Team
Time commitment– Sunday mornings, once a month
Contact: Rev. Jack Gaede
Collaborate with a dedicated team of people to create a warm and inviting welcome to all who come. Responsibilities include: Welcoming people at the doors, assisting in the offering, answering questions newcomers may have, and being willing to socialize with people. This is a great way for newer people to get involved and get connected more deeply into the life of the church. Plus, children and youth can also be a part of the team!

Wednesday Night Cook Teams
Meets Wednesdays at 3pm

We plan, cook, & serve meals for our Welcome Wednesdays suppers from September through May. We need hands in the kitchen to make light work of preparation and cooking duties.

Worship Associates Team
Time commitment– Sunday mornings and other services
Contact: Rev. Jessica Clay
The Worship Associates team supports Sunday worship and other services. This is an opportunity to be a part of shared ministry in action. The worship associates write a chalice lighting which is a personal reflection, prepare the worship space, and are part of the warm welcome on Sunday mornings.
