Food Insecurity
Food insecurity is rising.
Many Minnesota families, up to 1 in 5 Minnesota households according to some estimates, are facing food insecurity, and the number may be rising. WBUUC contributes financially every year to several area food shelves and provides healthy lunches to Century College students during the entire school year.
Local Area Food Shelves
Through special collections each year, WBUUC provides financial support for several local food shelves, including the White Bear Area Food Shelf, Mahtomedi Area Food Shelf, Century College Food Shelf and Stillwater (Valley Outreach) Food Shelf. In February of 2025, both special collections of the month went to this effort, as part of our first “Food Focus February.”
Century College Lunches
Volunteers (aka the Sandwich Squad) meet every Monday in the church kitchen to pack sandwiches and fruit for students at nearby Century College.
